When is Centralia Going to “GO GREEN”.

The Lewis County Transfer Station does recycle most materials, I’ll give them that. But when is the Centralia Transfer Station going to start accepting plastic? Lewis County, which now runs the transfer station, needs to step up and start offering the citizens of this community full recycling.

How Much Plastic Do You Throw Away?

Take alook around your home. Look in your refrigerator, laundry room, or your bathroom. How many of the items in there are plastic that you have to dispose of each and every day? Milk jugs, shampoo containers, laundry detergent, creamer bottles, yogurt containers, soda bottles, water bottles, and the list goes on. All of this stuff gets thrown away, it just ends up in the landfill now.

Collecting Once a Month

Right now the transfer station’s answer is to collection plastics once per month. On the 1st Saturday of every month, the Centralia Transfer station located at 1411 S Tower Ave opens up a container for disposing of plastic. Hours of operations are 7:30am to 5:30pm.

Tell Them to “Go Green”

Let the Centralia Transfer Station know that we are tired of throwing our plastic away. They need to move forward with the proposal to offer curbside recycling for all recyclables. The City of Centralia and the City of Chehalis are proposing 95 gallon containers to place all of the recyclable materials minus glass, that would be picked up every other week. Many other communities around the State offer this service. Call the transfer station at 360.740.1452 or email them and voice your opinion.
